Here is Metro Parks' latest and greatest new thought.

Yup I worked it. The first Metro Parks Dog swim. While I worked I got carpet installed in my house. (An entertaining afternoon that I got paid for and had word done on my house! I am spoiled) Some of you may have seen the story in the TNT on Sunday, but here is the insider's story. It was so much more entertaining than I thought. I got to watch my boss and his boss scrub poo off the deck all day. I was in the office, by myself, away from the wet dog smell but with a great view of the show. I had a few dogs sneak into the office and run around until they were caught or finally chased out by me when I had a minute to spare. Altogether we had 172 dogs in 4 hours. Only one dog escaped the pool and only one attack, which happened right in front of my window. People loved it. We had a number who just came to watch. The dogs kept getting stuck in the lazy river because the sides were too high for them to climb out so the guard had to keep fishing them out with the pole and net. Here are a few pictures I was able to quickly snap in all the craziness.

Ya, that white dog was huge!

In case you were worried, chlorine had not been added to the water since Monday, I added some part way through the day. People weren't to get in past their ankles, per health department regulations and good ol' fashion common sense. I did have a little girl in a suit in tears because she couldn't get in the water with her dog. After the swim the pool was drained and cleaned for the winter, despite the many requests I got to open it up to people. (I know it was warm that day but YUCK!)
This is supposed to become an annual event and is free for people so next September keep your ears open, it is a fun, free, and entertaining event for sure!
