All by myself...so hard to be all by myself....

I'll take a break from writing my math lesson plans for next week to share a little story about my day. Before today I haven't taught math at all. I was supposed to teach math for the first time next week and take it over completely. However, since it isn't until next week I hadn't gotten a chance to even look at the curriculum and how the teacher's guide is set up.
My mentor teacher took the afternoon off as a personal day and told me in the morning that I would be teaching everything for the rest of the day, and that meant math.
Well, she left and the sub came, a sub from Poland by the way. (I wonder what the criteria is for being a substitute teacher in the Tacoma school district. I am begining to think that it means you are foreign, with poor english speaking skills and always bring fire drills with you.) She was a very nice lady and let me do everything without interference.
All that to say I got half way through my chaotic lesson when the fire alarm goes off. But since I'm not staff I don't have a school email address and so did not know that the drill was coming. My students performed wonderfully though, I was so proud of them that when we got back I gave them all stickers. (which they all chose to stick on their forheads for the rest of the day.)
After an half a day all on my own with the kids I am surprisingly tired but a little excited that I was able to do things on my own, even if they weren't perfect.

Sounds like an eventful day! Were your kids just thrilled that you got to teach?

That is so cute! Good job Mrs. Kvale. And welcome to the blogging world. ;) It's really fun to see what some of the cousins are up to daily because they all got blogs! Happy weekend.

When I was at SPU and the fire alarms went off, we would shut off all our lights and lock our door, so we could keep playing Halo.

Kids, don't be like Derek

Hey, just wondering if you guys are open to spanish practicum at your school. Sr. Connally is having troubles finding a school that can do it on fridays right before lunch. Apparently it is "reading hour" so no one wants us. anyway, let me know!
