Did you know that in the south end you don't put your mailbox flag up and hence you have to prop up your mail in the box so that the mail man sees it?! Who knew?
Nothing surprises me about our neighborhood. Isn't that the correct way to show you have mail that needs to be mailed? Well that's how it is in NC anyway. I put a letter on the "legs" part of our mail box and it didn't get picked up, I had to prop it so the postman would see it.
Did not know that you did not need to use a flag, but I thought you were always supposed to prop up your mail. Maybe I just learned that from growing up in UP. Well, i guess that could solve the problem of our flag never staying up.
You can't use a flag or people driving by will know there is mail in the box and will steal it. We learned that young. You never want to have a check stollen out of your mail box!
